'Eaters Place Second at Cullum Invitational

SIMI VALLEY, Calif. --- UC Irvine turned in its second straight solid performance of the fall as the Anteaters finished second in the Cullum Invitational that concluded Tuesday at Wood Ranch Golf Club in Simi Valley.
UCI shot 7-under 281 in the final round to close with a 54-hole total of 15-under 849. UC Santa Barbara was first at 833 and Long Beach State third at 853 in the 15-team field.
Anteater junior David Kim fired a 4-under 68 Tuesday and finished third at 9-under 207 for his second consecutive top-10 showing and sixth of his career.
Freshman Jonathan Kang, with a 2-under 70 in the final round, placed ninth at 210, sophomore Ramiz Jamal was 25th at 216 after a 71 Tuesday, junior Jonathan Young (73) finished 43rd at 219 and junior Ryan O'Connor (72) was 48th at 220.
Sophomore Chris Parkinson, competing as an individual, placed 72nd at 226 following an even-par 72 in the final round.
Jonah Texeira of USC, also playing as an individual, was medalist at 14-under 202.
Coach Paul Smolinski's Anteaters will be back in action Oct. 30-Nov. 1 in the Princeville Makai Invitational at Princeville Makai Golf Course in Kauai, Hawai'i.
