IRVINE, Calif. --- UC Irvine fell to fourth-ranked Pacific, 17-5, in the Anteaters' inaugural game in the Golden Coast Conference Friday night.
Freshman Foster Hoose led UCI (7-8, 0-1) with a pair of goals while freshmen Jon Polos, Brendan Fisher and Bryant Joudrie added one each at the Anteater Aquatics Complex.
Tim Reeves led the Tigers (13-4, 2-0) with six goals and four other Pacific players scored two each.
The Tigers built an 8-1 lead on a goal by Ikko Saito with 3:18 left in the second quarter before Polos and Fisher scored to cut the deficit to 8-3 at the half.
After Pacific scored the first goal of the third period, Hoose notched his second goal of the game with 5:57 remaining in the quarter to make it 9-4, but the Tigers then scored six straight to go up 15-4 late in the fourth period.
UCI hosts the annual Alumni Game Sunday at noon and faces Chapman in a non-conference game Tuesday night at 7:00, also at the Anteater Aquatics Complex.
