Fast Times for UC Irvine Saturday

 

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. --- Taisyn Crutchfield and Megan George recorded some of the fastest times in UC Irvine indoor history Saturday at the Lumberjack Team Challenge in Flagstaff, Ariz.

Crutchfield placed third of 36 competitors in the 60 meters with a time of 7.66 seconds (converted for altitude) for second best in the Anteater record book.  Persis William-Mensah, the school-record holder at 7.61 (2015), finished fourth Saturday in 7.67(C) and George was 10th in 7.77(C) for fourth in UCI history.

George finished third in a field of 24 in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.63(C), just off her No. 2 time of 8.61 she ran in 2014.

Kaulyn Lee-McNeill finished third of 19 runners in the 800 meters at Flagstaff with a time of 2:19.99, Crystal Lizaola was fourth (2:20.49) and Lauren Hall also finished in the top 10 with a 10th-place time of 2:29.56.

Ariel Cheng placed fifth in the pole vault with a mark of 11-7 ¾ and Paige Bushnell was seventh in the 60-meter hurdles in 8.77(C), tying her for No. 4 time UCI history.

Alexandria Federson placed eighth in the high jump at 4-11 and Madelyn Sando was 10th at the same height.  Melanie Speech registered the fourth-best shot put mark in school history with an effort of 40-9 to finish 15th.

The Anteaters' 4x400 relay of Saniya Syed, Lizaola, Crutchfield and Lee-McNeill finished ninth with a time of 4:04.01.

UCI returns to action Jan. 29-30 at the UW Invitational in Seattle, Wash.
