
Isaiah Thompson with Top-Notch Performance

STANFORD, Calif. – UC Irvine junior Isaiah Thompson turned in an impressive performance at the 42nd Stanford Invitational Saturday.
Thompson finished 12th of 283 runners with a time of 24:08.9 over 8,000 meters at the Stanford Golf Course as he led the 'Eaters to a ninth-place team showing.
Izzak Mireles placed 66th in 25:03.5, Eric Lawver was 90th (25:19.6) and Nolan Del Valle finished 97th (25:26.1).
David Aguilar was 111th in 25:38.2, Branden Randall 125th in 25:46.5 and Jake Williams 239th in 27:23.6 to round out UCI's seven competitors.
Stanford's Sean McGorty won the race in 23:07.0 as the Cardinal won the meet with 62 points. Chico State finished second with 67, Cal Poly was third with 97 and UCI ninth with 305 points in the 30-team meet.
The 'Eaters return to action Oct. 17 in the Highlander Invitational at Riverside.
