OFF THE TEE
The Anteaters will compete in the Wyoming Cowgirl Desert Intercollegiate Saturday and Sunday (Sept. 26-27) at the Classic Club in Palm Desert, Calif.
The tournament field includes Santa Clara, San Jose State, UC Riverside, Grand Canyon, CSUN, Sacramento State, Cal State Fullerton, Cal Poly, Southern Utah, Northern Arizona, Bakersfield, Incarnate Word and host Wyoming.
The course plays at a par-72, 6,112-yards.
The first two rounds will be held on Saturday with a 7:30 a.m., shotgun start followed by Sunday's final 18 holes also at 7:30 a.m.
The Anteater lineup includes Kelsey Kawaguchi, Breanne Jones, Kristin Henno, Samantha Chan and Camille Wagg. Freshman Joy Kim will see her first collegiate action, playing as an individual.
It is the fifth-consecutive year Wyoming has hosted the tournament at the Classic Club in Palm Desert and the first time UCI will be participating.
IN THE CLUBHOUSE
UCI opened the season with a 17th place finish at the Ptarmigan Ram Fall Classic at the Ptarmigan Country Club.
Sophomore Kelsey Kawaguchi and Breanne Jones paced the Anteaters in the first tournament.
Kawaguchi led UC Irvine in the first tournament of the year with a 46th place finish (230-75-75-80), while Jones was 55th (232-76-73-83).
