IRVINE, Calif. --- The schedule rollouts roll on with Chris Volk's bunch getting back to business in search of another long tournament run in 2015.
The Anteaters transitioned nicely in the first year under head coach Chris Volk's command with the most successful season in program history going 16-6-3 including an upset of No. 6 national seed Stanford en route to its third NCAA Tournament third round appearance.
One of those tournament opponents returns to open up the schedule in UNLV as UCI treks to Las Vegas for an exhibition match on Sunday, Aug. 16 before returning home for the annual Alumni Match on August 23 in Anteater Stadium.
The regular season really gets cooking on Friday, Aug. 28 in Anteater Stadium with a match against Loyola Chicago. UCI heads off on the road to Omaha, Neb. for a pair of gut checks out of the gate. Nebraska-Omaha opens things up on Friday, Sept. 4 returning from a 2011 where the 'Eaters helped open the Mavericks' home field in their inaugural season. The 'Eaters next make another return trip that Sunday to Creighton, a place the 'Eaters visited in the midst of their 2011 Big West slate. The Blue Jays are coming off a 16-3-3 season that ended in penalty kicks in the NCAA Tournament quarterfinals.
UC Irvine comes back to southern California for a quick trip to USD before returning home to Anteater Stadium to take on San Diego State.
A second excursion sends the Anteaters to the Southwest to play at Oral Roberts and SMU, a pair of programs vying for the postseason on a yearly basis.
The non-conference schedule comes to a head at the end of September beginning with a Thursday night match at Anteater Stadium, Sept. 24, against LMU. The two clashed for a memorable match last season that saw UCI tie the match in the 90th minute before putting it away in double overtime, 3-2. The weekend wraps up with national runner-up, UCLA, on the Pac-12 Network Sunday evening, Sept. 27. The 'Eaters had the Bruins on the ropes in its last appearance at UCLA in 2012 falling 2-1 late, but exacted their revenge in 2013 with a 3-1 victory in Anteater Stadium.
The momentum picks up as Big West play hits with UC Santa Barbara and Cal Poly infiltrating Anteater Stadium right off the bat, Thursday, Oct. 1 and Saturday, Oct. 3, followed by a trip up north to Sacramento State and UC Davis.
South play commences with UC Riverside visiting Irvine Wednesday evening, Oct. 14, before three straight road treks to Cal State Fullerton, UCR's second meeting, and then over to CSUN all in the span of a week. UCI's regular season closes up shop back home with Cal State Fullerton on Wednesday, Oct. 28, and senior night on Halloween against CSUN.
The Big West Tournament begins Saturday, Nov. 7, with a first round match followed by the semifinals, Wednesday, Nov. 11, and the final, Saturday, Nov. 14, with all coming at the site of the higher seed.
