
UC Irvine Competes At Big West Championships

OFF THE TEE
UCI will compete in the Big West Championships Sunday–Tuesday (Apr. 19-21) at the El Macero Country Club in Davis, Calif.
The conference championship is a three-day, 54-hole tournament with 18 holes played each day.
Kaley In, Samantha Chan, Camille Wagg, Kristin Henno and Kelsey Kawaguchi will compete for the Anteaters.
The Anteaters are paired with Hawaii and CSUN and will tee off beginning at 9:00 a.m. Sunday.
El Macero is a par-73 course, playing at 6,101 yards.
The course has served as a qualifying spot for many USGA events and was frequented by then-Governor Ronald Reagan. The course was founded in 1961.
UC Irvine finished fourth (923) last year, one shot behind third place Long Beach State.
In had UCI's top finish at last year's championship, posting a then-career-best seventh place 225 (74-76-75). She carded 10 birdies over the 54 holes and was tied for the tournament lead in that category.
UC Irvine joins Cal Poly, Cal State Fullerton, Cal State Northridge, Hawaii, Long Beach State, UC Davis, UC Riverside in the race for the Big West title.
UCI has won five Big West Championships (2008, 2007, 2006, 2005, 2002).
Three Anteaters (Stella Lee '02, Selanee' Henderson '06, Kim Lorenzana '08) have captured the individual crown at the Championships.

IN THE CLUBHOUSE
The Anteaters went 2-2 in match play during the three-day SDSU Farms Invitational and finished 13th of 16 teams overall.
Kaley In leads the team in scoring average at 75.71and has four Top 20 finishes this season.
Freshman Camille Wagg has come on strong down the stretch finishing as either UCI's first or second best performer in each of the last three tournaments. She owns a 77.18 scoring average over 11 rounds.
Samantha Chan posted the best finish of the year with a third place finish at the Rose City Collegiate (218).
