BLOOMINGTON, Ind. --- The Anteaters built off a strong opening quarter to down the host Hoosiers, 10-6, to open the Fluid Four Saturday afternoon.
The fifth-ranked 'Eaters (10-6) had a spotless first period putting home three goals and shutting out No. 16 Indiana (6-7).
Destene Albers put away her second of the match to open the second period while the Hoosiers kept pace with a pair of their own trailing, 6-2, at the half.
Candyce Schroeder's penalty goal with 5:09 left in the third closed the gap to 7-4, UCI, and IU kept the deficit at three, 8-5, heading to the fourth.
The 'Eaters rode their vaunted defense through the fourth, and Emily Carlson locked things up with 4:41 remaining sending UCI off to its 10th victory, 10-6.
McKenna Mitchell led all scorers with three goals. Kelly Matthews had a pair for Indiana.
UCI continues with another Saturday match at 2:30 p.m. against Michigan.
