Complete NCAA Bracket
IRVINE, Calif. --- UC Irvine will meet Louisville in the NCAA Second Round Friday in Seattle as the entire bracket was unveiled on the CBS Selection Show Sunday.
The Anteater players, families and fans watched the show at the Newkirk Alumni Center as fifth-year head coach Russell Turner's team learned it was a No. 13 seed that will face the fourth-seeded Cardinals at KeyArena in Seattle, Wash., Friday at approximately 1:10 p.m. (PT) on TBS.
This will be the first meeting between UCI and Louisville as the 'Eaters take on the Cardinals and Hall-of-Fame coach Rick Pitino.
UCI is making its first appearance in the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Championship after winning the Big West Conference Tournament championship with a 67-58 win over Hawai'i Saturday night at the Honda Center.
Senior forward Will Davis II was named tournament MVP after recording double-doubles each of the three tourney nights while averaging 15.0 points and 11.7 rebounds, and shooting 66.7 percent from the field. He is the first player in history to record three double-doubles in a Big West Tournament.
He has seven double-doubles this season and 16 in his career.
Sophomore guard Luke Nelson, who scored 17 points in the title game, was named to the all-tournament team.
UCI is 21-12 overall this season as the program has won 65 games in the last three seasons. The Anteaters tied for second in the Big West with an 11-5 mark.
Louisville is 24-8 overall and was 12-6 in the ACC for fourth place. This is the 41st NCAA Tournament appearance for the Cardinals and ninth straight.
