IRVINE, Calif. --- The 'Eaters' run up the rankings hit a bump in the road Friday afternoon falling to the young Eagles of Eastern Michigan, 5-2, in Anteater Tennis Stadium.

Ali Facey and Kat Facey provided all the offense on the day, and started it off with a 6-1 win at No. 1 doubles. The Eagles (2-9) responded by winning the other two doubles sets to claim the initial point and take a 1-0 lead.

UC Irvine (7-3, 2-0) tussled with EMU exchanging points in straight sets to tie the match up at 2-2. The Eagles gutted it out, however, as No. 1 Klara Supejova found a way by Sarah Gong to clinch the match, and No. 5 Vivien Dvali and No. 2 Arisha Ladhani were unable to take advantage of opening-set wins fading late to give up the final two points in three sets.

EMU, who had just lost to Cal State Fullerton and CSUN this week, snaps its six-match losing streak while the Anteaters lose its three-match winning streak.

No. 49 UCI will have a chance to rebound on Sunday, March 1, as it hosts Pacific in Anteater Tennis Stadium at 11:00 a.m.
