UC Irvine Falls at USC, 14-8

 

LOS ANGELES, Calif. --- The second quarter turned the tide Sunday as seventh-ranked UC Irvine fell to host USC, 14-8, in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation game.

UCI, on the strength of goals by Kyle Trush and Lovre Milos, trailed just 3-2 after the first quarter before the fourth-ranked Trojans outscored the 'Eaters 5-1 in the second period to take an 8-3 halftime lead.

USC (18-4, 6-2 MPSF) went up 10-3 midway through the third quarter before two goals from Matt Skinner and one by Trush pulled UCI within 11-6 entering the final period.

The Trojans scored the first three goals in the fourth quarter prior to Milos and Brendan Duffy closing out the scoring for the 'Eaters (13-10, 2-6).

Milos led UCI with three goals while Trush and Skinner scored two apiece.  Blake Edwards led USC with four goals.

UCI hosts Pepperdine Friday night at 7:00 in an MPSF contest and regular-season finale on Senior Night.
