UC Irvine Powers Past Concordia, 25-9

 

IRVINE, Calif. --- Goals were in abundance Wednesday night as seventh-ranked UC Irvine overpowered Concordia University, 25-9, in a non-conference game at Anteater Aquatics Complex.

Junior Lovre Milos scored six goals and sophomore Matt Skinner added five as the 'Eaters improved to 12-9 on the season.

Senior Pablo Carballo notched four goals while seniors Jared Osborn and Chris Swieca, and junior Antoine Lena, scored a pair each.

UCI led 8-1 after one quarter on the strength of three goals from Milos and two by Carballo.

Skinner scored three times in the second period as the 'Eaters led 14-4 at halftime.

Sophomore goalie Byron Rivers played the entire game, registering 11 saves.

Santiago Rodriguez led Concordia (3-15) with two goals.

UCI hosts Mountain Pacific Sports Federation newcomer San Jose State Saturday at noon.  The Spartans are competing in men's water polo for the first time in 34 years this season.
