Shanghai Golden Age Beats UC Irvine In Front Of 1,215 Fans

Irvine, Calif. -- Shanghai Golden Age beat UC Irvine 3-1 (29-27, 25-22, 22-25, 25-21) in an exhibition match in front of crowd of 1,215 fans at the Bren Events Center Saturday.

Playing Shanghai, a top professional team in China, continued UCI's tradition of taking on international teams to gain experience against the world's best before the collegiate season begins.

The match, which had over 700 students cheering for the Anteaters, was the debut of Karl Apfelbach and David Parker.

Kyle Russell and Tamir Hershko each posted double-figure kills in the loss.
