UC Irvine Falls to Top-Ranked UCLA at SoCal Invitational

MALIBU, Calif. --- UC Irvine fell behind early and could not recover in falling to top-ranked UCLA, 13-4, in the Kap7 SoCal Invitational at Raleigh Runnels Memorial Pool in Malibu Saturday afternoon.
The Bruins (15-0) scored the game's first four goals before junior Lovre Milos put the seventh-ranked 'Eaters (10-3) on the board with a goal at the 2:10 mark of the opening quarter.
Sophomore Ryan Warde scored for UCI with 53 seconds remaining in the first period to close UCLA's lead to 6-2.
The Bruins led 8-2 at halftime before senior Jared Osborn notched a goal for the 'Eaters with 6:52 left in the third quarter to reduce the gap to 8-3.
UCLA scored the next four goals to go up 12-3 prior to Osborn scoring his second goal of the game at the 1:22 mark. The Bruins tacked on the game's final goal with 14 seconds left.
UCI continues tourney play Sunday, facing Pacific at 8:00 a.m. in Malibu.
