LOS ANGELES, Calif. --- The Anteaters fought off a pesky Marshall squad for a 4-1 victory Sunday morning to close out the ITA Kick-Off Weekend at Los Angeles Tennis Center.

Vivien Dvali and Mazy Watrous continued their doubles winning ways putting away the doubles point for the 'Eaters, 6-4, as the No. 3 doubles.

Singles action started out in favor of Marshall (1-2) who won four of six opening sets. The lone set wins for UCI from Dvali and Kat Facey were quickly decided in straight sets to give UC Irvine the 3-0 lead.

Marshall's Anna Pomyatinskaya drew a point for the Herd in an attempt to reel the 'Eaters in, but Sarah Gong fought back from an opening set loss to upset No. 116 Derya Turhan, 2-6, 6-2, 6-1, and clinch the 4-1 win for the Anteaters.

UCI takes a short break before returning to the courts Tuesday, Feb. 3, with a 1:30 p.m. match at LMU.
