'Eaters Run Away from Wildcats to Earn Split

TUCSON, Ariz. --- UC Irvine has used Arizona as a victim two straight days to earn another split clinching the match early for the 4-0 win Saturday afternoon.

Justin Agbayani got things going early with a straight-set win at No. 6. Sebastian Heim continued his winning ways, this time as the No. 2.

Jonathan Hammel also got into the win column with a three-set thriller before Nico Mertens topped the victory off at No. 1 in straight sets.

The Anteaters again split to now go to 2-2 through two days of the Arizona Kickoff Classic, and will finish the tournament off on Mon. Jan. 19 with another round with the ranked participants in No. 41 Texas Tech (9:00 a.m.) and No. 61 New Mexico (1:00 p.m.).
