UC Irvine Opens MPSF Schedule at UCLA Saturday

MPSF OPENER SATURDAY
● Ninth-ranked UC Irvine, 10-2 overall, opens its Mountain Pacific Sports Federation schedule Saturday at No. 1 UCLA in a 10:30 a.m. game that will be televised on the Pac-12 Networks.
● Saturday marks UCI's 13th consecutive game away from home to start the season. The Anteaters are playing their first 18 games outside of Irvine before opening their home schedule against Pacific Oct. 18 at 12:00 p.m.
● Tenth-year head coach Marc Hunt's UCI team will continue MPSF action Oct. 4 at Stanford in another 10:30 a.m. game on the Pac-12 Networks. The 'Eaters return to UCLA's Spieker Aquatics Complex Oct. 11-12 for the SoCal Tournament.
UCI GOES 3-1 AT KAP7 NORCAL CLASSIC
● UCI went 3-1 at the Kap7 NorCal Classic in Stockton last weekend. After opening with a 10-9 loss to UC San Diego, the 'Eaters battled back through the consolation round to record consecutive wins of 17-5 over Redlands, 12-11 over Pepperdine in sudden-death overtime, and 19-8 over UC Davis.
● Sophomore Lovre Milos scored 14 goals over the weekend and he leads UCI with 56 on the season. He scored the game-winning goal in sudden-death overtime in last Sunday's 12-11 win over Pepperdine at the NorCal Classic. Milos, a transfer from UCLA, leads the MPSF in scoring at 4.67 goals per game. He has scored at least five goals in eight games this season.
● Senior Jacob Mourer, who scored 11 goals in last weekend's NorCal Classic, has 28 goals for the season. He ranks seventh in the MPSF with a scoring average of 2.33 goals per game. Mourer has scored 109 goals in his Anteater career.
● Freshman Matt Skinner has scored 19 goals this season, including six in the NorCal Classic. The Australian native ranks 18th in the MPSF with a scoring average of 1.58 goals per game.
● Sophomore Kyle Trush has scored 16 goals for the 'Eaters this season. He is the team's leading returning scorer from last season when he scored 35 as a true freshman.
● Other double-digit scorers for UCI this season are senior Alan Robertson and junior Jared Osborn, who have scored 10 goals each.
● Junior goalie Dylan Peterson has started 10 games this season and has recorded 91 saves. He ranks second in the MSPF with an average of 12.66 saves per game.
● True freshman goalie Byron Rivers ranks first in the MPSF with an average of 13.73 saves per game. He had a season-high 15 saves in last Sunday's 12-11, sudden-death overtime win over Pepperdine.
