Irvine, Calif. -- UC Irvine women's golfer Kaley In qualified for the U.S. Amateur after winning a playoff at the Palos Verdes Golf Club on Monday.

In, who will be a sophomore in the fall,  shot a 2 over-par 73, finishing in a six-way tie for the final U.S. Amateur spot. She birdied the second playoff hole to qualify.

The U.S. Amateur will be held August 4-10 at the Nassau Country Club in Glen Cove, New York. The first two days will be stroke play, narrowing the field down to 64 then continuing with match play.

In was an All-Big West second team performer this year after leading the team with a 76.00 scoring average over 22 rounds.
