
Connor Spencer Named Corvallis Regional Most Outstanding Player

CORVALLIS, Ore. --- UC Irvine junior first baseman Connor Spencer was named Most Outstanding Player of the Corvallis Regional late Monday night.
Spencer hit .400 (6 for 15), had five RBI and three doubles, and scored five runs in four games to help lead the Anteaters to the regional title.
UCI teammates that joined Spencer on the all-tournament team are second baseman Grant Palmer, third baseman Taylor Sparks, shortstop Chris Rabago, outfielder Kris Paulino and pitcher Andrew Morales.
The 'Eaters took down national No. 1 seed Oregon State, 4-2, Monday night in the regional final.
Coach Mike Gillespie's UCI squad, 38-23 overall, travels to Stillwater, Okla., this weekend to face Oklahoma State (48-16) in the NCAA Stillwater Super Regional at Allie P. Reynolds Stadium (4,000).
Game times (PT) are Friday at 6:30 pm., Saturday at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday (if necessary) at 6:00 p.m. All games will be carried on ESPNU and KUCI/88.9 FM.
This is UCI's fourth trip to an NCAA super regional with previous appearances in 2007, 2008 and 2011.
