'Eaters Travel to UC Davis for Big West Championships

IRVINE, Calif. --- UC Irvine travels to Davis for the 2014 Big West Conference Track & Field Championships Friday and Saturday (May 16-17).
The meet is being conducted at Toomey Field and Woody Wilson Track on the UC Davis campus.
Field events begin at 9:00 a.m. Friday with the first track event at 3:30 p.m. On Saturday, the first field event is at 12:00 p.m. with running events starting at 2:08 p.m. Fox Sports Prime Ticket will air events on Saturday.
Coach Jeff Perkins' Anteaters have several student-athletes ranked high in the league's top three this season entering this week's meet.
Freshman Lloyd Sicard ranks No. 1 in the Big West in the 110-meter hurdles (14.07) and he is second in the 400-meter hurdles (51.71).
Junior Mason Miller is No. 2 in the league in the shot put (58-2 ½), junior Tommy Newton-Neal is third in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (9:09.81) and senior Stephen Brown is No. 3 in the pole vault (16-6 ¾).
UCI's 4x400 relay of Brandon Howard, James Douglas, Duane Solomon and Sicard) ranks second with a season-best time of 3:13.29.
