POMONA, Calif. --- UCI rode an early wave of offense to dispatch the Division III Sagehens of Pomona-Pitzer, 19-1, Saturday at Haldeman Pool.
Jessy Cardey scored first and finished with a pair after a 5-0 first quarter. UCI doubled up its advantage at the half thanks to the second goal of the game for Ambyr Stewart, Mackenzie Milham and Hannah Croghan.
A pair of goals each from Destene Albers and McKenna Mitchell gave the 'Eaters their third 5-0 quarter. Annika Nelson's shutout ended midway through the final quarter as Pomona-Pitzer got on the board, but the 'Eaters forged on capped off by Tess de Lange's first career goal for the 19th and last tally by UCI.
Nelson finished with nine saves on the afternoon while 10 Anteaters netted goals led by hat tricks from Stewart, Milham, and Albers. UCI continues its day at the Convergence Tournament in Pomona with another Division III opponent, Cal Lutheran, at 3:40 p.m.
