BREAK POINTS

The Anteaters dropped Cal State Northridge for its 14th straight regular season Big West win.

UC Irvine has won its first six matches of a nine-match homestand.

UCI has wins over two ranked opponents: No. 48 San Diego State and No. 61 USD.

NET SERVES

Franziska Goettsching has 24 wins at No. 3 singles, two away from all-time leader Clare Fermin. She is also fourth all-time at No. 4 with 16. Her 41 career singles wins places her 25th in the all-time rankings.

In doubles, Goettsching has 26 wins as the No. 1 placing her fourth all-time. She also has 47 career doubles wins good for 11th all-time alongside Tiffany Chang and Libby Despot.

Sarah Stadfelt's 20 wins at the No. 6 position places her at third all-time in program history.

Marivick Mamiit returned to No. 2 singles to win her 12th career match at the slot, tying her for seventh all-time.

The 'Eaters have won its last four matches in which they dropped the opening set after failing to do so in their first 32 attempts.

DROP SHOTS

The 'Eaters' schedule consists of eight schools ranked in the ITA preseason rankings. UCI is currently 2-4 with wins over No. 48 SDSU and No. 61 USD.

UC Irvine will face seven schools that reached the 2013 NCAA Tournament including Final Four participant UCLA.

Amongst UCI's opponents are 16 ranked singles players; 14 in the top-100, eight in the top-50, and two in the top-10.

The 'Eaters play 13 of their 22 matches at home including a stretch of 10 consecutive matches that span from February through the entirety of March.

NCAA NOTORIETY

UC Irvine women's tennis was very prevalent in the NCAA postseason earning spots in the team and individual brackets. The team notched its first-ever NCAA Tournament victory with a hard-fought, 4-2 victory over San Jose State. The 'Eaters followed with a sweep at the hands of USC to end its postseason run.

UCI took home a Big West regular season title in 2013 going 9-0 in Big West matches, 36-6 in singles sets, and 24-0 in doubles sets.

UCI's NCAA Tournament win was Head Coach Mike Edles' 250th as an Anteater.

The 'Eaters as a club won all 14 home matches and ran a 20-match win streak in 2013, both program records.

UC Irvine finished 2013 ranked 32nd in the nation, besting its No. 35 ranking from 2007. UCI is currently ranked 38th.

The 'Eaters were ranked 23rd earlier in the season, its highest ranking in Division I and first time in the top 30 since 2007.

HOMEWARD BOUND

The 'Eaters finish up a nine-match homestand with three this week that includes some ranked action as well as the return to Big West play.

Santa Clara starts the week bringing their 7-5 record and No. 72 ranking. The Broncos have wins against Cal Poly, UCSB, LMU and No. 50 UNLV.

Individually, Santa Clara is led by senior Katie Le ranked No. 28 in the nation. Sophomores Delphine Rouvillois and Chelby Cooke compliment her well at Nos. 2 and 3 singles, respectively.

New Mexico State tennis posts at 5-9 record needing one win to match their 2013 total. The Aggies' match with UCI comes sandwiched between trips to CSUN and Cal State Fullerton.

Manon Sylvain has commandeered the top singles position with a 9-9 dual match mark. Ros-Polly Nguyen at 13-6 and Natalia Salum at 14-4 have rolled and hold win streaks currently.

Hawaii brings conference play back to end the week. At 7-7, Hawaii has eclipsed its 5-11 2013 record and have wins over CSUF and UC Riverside. The Rainbow Wahine will take on UCSB and Cal Poly before completing its trip in Irvine.

Cindy Nguyen is an impressive 11-2 as the No. 1 singles. Three other singles come in with winning records.

FALL 'EATERS

Ali Facey impressed in fall play going 9-2 including winning the consolation bracket of the ITA West Regionals. She also went a combined 6-4 in doubles play.

Sarah Gong posted a 5-2 mark in singles and reached the ITA West Regionals consolation semifinal and won a pair of matches in the Hawaii Fall Tournament. In doubles, she and Marivick Mamiit reached the quarterfinals of the ITA West Regional.
