Santa Ana, Calif. – UC Irvine finished eighth at the UC Irvine Invitational presented by Kia which concluded Tuesday.
UC Irvine shot a 306 on the final round at the Santa Ana Country Club and placed eighth in the 13-team field with a 54-hole score of 922 (306-310-306).
Stanford had three players in the top four as the Cardinal captured the team title with a two-day total score of 864 (289-289-286). Stanford shot a 286 Tuesday, the lowest score for the tournament, to finish 13 strokes in front of Texas A&M (877). Pepperdine was third (879), Gonzaga fourth (891) and Long Beach State rounded out the top five (894). UC Davis came in sixth place (899), while Portland State (921) was seventh followed by Hawaii (926), San Francisco (928), Nevada (935), Idaho (940) and UC Riverside (941).
Stanford's Mariah Stackhouse earned medalist honors with a four-under 212 (70-69-73). With her win, Stackhouse earns the sponsor exemption to the Kia Classic Mar. 27-30 at the Aviara Golf Club.
Pepperdine's Grace Na was second with a two-day total of 214, Texas A&M's Katerina Ruzickova (215) was third and Stanford's Lauren Kim and Casey Danielson and UC Davis' Betty Chen were tied for fourth at 216.
UC Irvine senior Ronnie Valerio topped the Anteaters with a 27th place finish carding a 230 (76-76-78). Junior Sara Banke was tied for 32nd with a score of 231 (77-78-76). Freshman Kaley In had the team's best round, pacing the Anteaters with an even par 72 on the final 18 holes to finish in 36th position with a score of 232 (83-77-72), while senior Taryn Yee was tied for 52nd at 238 (74-79-85) and freshman Samantha Chan was tied for 57th at 241 with a total of 241 (79-82-80).
Next, UCI will face Long Beach State in a dual match at the Old Ranch Country Club on March 15.
