Ronnie Valerio Leads UCI After Day One Of Peg Barnard Invitational

Stanford, Calif. -- Senior Ronnie Valerio fired an even par 71 to lead UC Irvine after the first round of the Peg Barnard Invitational Saturday at the Stanford Golf Course.

Valerio's even par performance is tied for eighth overall and helped the Anteaters to sixth place with a score of 297 following the first day of action. Host Stanford leads the 14-team field with a score of 287. UC Davis is second (291), San Jose State is third (292), Denver fourth (295) and Oregon is fifth (296).

UCI senior Sara Banke is tied for 17th after shooting a 74, while freshmen Samantha Chan and Kaley In are tied for 34th at 76. Senior Taryn Yee is tied for 60th with a first round score of 79.

The tournament concludes with 18 holes tomorrow beginning at 9:00 a.m.
