LAHAINA, Hawaii --- UC Irvine is in seventh place following Friday's opening round of the Ka'anapali Collegiate Classic at the Ka'anapali Golf Course in Lahaina, Hawaii.
The Anteaters and Loyola Marymount are tied for seventh place at 278. Oregon is in first after firing a torrid, 30-under 254, North Florida is second at 269 and Kansas is third at 270.
UCI sophomore Bryan Shin shot a three-under 68 in the first round and is in 15th place on the par-71 course.
Pete Fernandez and Jacob Schulze each shot two-under rounds of 69 and are tied for 23rd, David Kim is 48th after a 72 and Jonathan Young is in 58th place after opening with a 73.
Brandon McIver of Oregon is the individual leader after shooting a 9-under 62.
The tournament continues with 18 holes each on Saturday and Sunday.
