
UC Irvine Opens Against USC at MPSF Tourney

UCI FACES TROJANS FRIDAY
● UC Irvine, seeded sixth, faces No. 3 seed USC in a quarterfinal game of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Tournament at 11:30 a.m. Friday at the Ken Lindgren Aquatics Center at Long Beach State.
● This marks the second meeting of the season between the teams. The Trojans defeated UCI, 14-10, at the Anteater Aquatics Complex Nov. 9.
● Pending Friday's outcomes, UCI will face either Stanford or Pepperdine on Saturday. The tournament concludes Sunday.
● Coach Marc Hunt's Anteaters picked up a pair of wins last week, defeating California Baptist, 13-5, in a non-conference game and UC Santa Barbara, 9-6, in an MPSF contest on Senior Day at UCI.
● Freshman Matt Skinner scored five goals in the win over Cal Baptist and he, along with sophomore Kyle Trush, scored two goals each in the victory over UCSB. Freshman goalie Byron Rivers had a career-high 21 saves in the win over Cal Baptist.
UC IRVINE TEAM NOTES
● Sophomore Lovre Milos leads UCI and the MPSF with 88 goals and a scoring average of 3.38 per game. He has scored at least five goals in nine games this season.
● Freshman Matt Skinner has scored 44 goals and senior Jacob Mourer 34 for the 'Eaters this year.
● Other double-digit scorers for UCI are sophomore Kyle Trush (32), junior Jared Osborn (25), senior Alan Robertson (24), junior Larson Pfeil (21), freshman Ryan Warde (19), senior Justin Papa with 13 and junior Pablo Carballo with 11.
● Freshman goalie Byron Rivers ranks first in the MPSF with an average of 12.60 saves per game and junior Dylan Peterson is third in the league with an average of 12.03 stops per contest.
