LOS ANGELES, Calif. --- Senior Alan Robertson scored four goals and Lovre Milos added three to lead ninth-ranked UC Irvine over Pepperdine, 16-9, in the SoCal Tournament at Sunset Canyon Recreation Center Sunday.
Robertson scored two goals late in the second quarter and two more early in the third period to help break open a tight game. His second goal of the third quarter at the 5:59 mark gave the 'Eaters a 10-5 lead as UCI (12-5) pulled away for the victory.
Pepperdine's Wesley Sherburne scored a goal with 4:36 remaining in the fourth period pulled the 12th-ranked Waves within 11-8 before UCI notched five consecutive goals by Larson Pfeil, Ryan Warde, Pablo Carballo, Matt Skinner and Milos to put the game away.
"We had good production on our 6-on-5 opportunities," UCI head coach Marc Hunt said. "Robertson, Carballo and Skinner had some key finishes in these situations.
"Defensively, Trush, Lovre and Skinner had big impacts. We are continually working better together. Communication is improving as rapport amongst the team is built."
