Northridge won both contests last season, taking a 59-48 victory in Northridge and a 68-52 win in Irvine.
The last time the teams played in the Matadome, Kelly Meggs, Jennifer Tsurumoto and Vanessa Aguilar led the Anteaters with nine points each, while Camille Buckley had a game-high 12 rebounds off the bench. The duo of Ashley Guay (24) and Marta Masoni (20) led the Matadors, scoring most of their points from long range. The pair combined to hit 10-20 from beyond the arc. Violet Alama had a team-best seven rebounds.
In that game, UCI out-rebounded Northridge, 45-28, but it was the Matadors who converted on opportunities scoring 24 points on 28 Anteater turnovers.
Cal State Northridge is 7-11 overall and 3-1 in conference play. The Matadors have won two straight and three of the last four games. Last week, Northridge swept Cal Poly and UCSB for the first time in its Big West history.
Northridge head coach Jason Flowers played for the UC Irvine men's basketball team for two seasons (1998, 1999) before transferring to UCLA.
Hawaii holds a 22-8 series record advantage over the Anteaters.
UCI's last win in Hawaii was a 60-52 victory on Jan. 15, 1995.
The 'Bows defeated the Anteaters 56-46 in Honolulu then UCI snapped a six game losing streak with a 64-52 victory over Hawaii in Irvine.
