IRVINE, Calif. --- UC Irvine alum Adam Folker has signed a one-year contract with BK Nova Hut Ostrava of the Czech Republic National Basketball League, announced by Slan Sports Management.
The 6-9 Folker concluded his Anteater career this past season. He ranks 11th in UCI history with 612 rebounds.
He averaged 9.3 points and 6.3 rebounds as a senior when he earned the Big West Conference "Best Hustle" Award for the second consecutive season. Folker led the conference in field-goal percentage at .572 and was named to the All-Big West Honorable Mention squad.
Folker was named Big West Player of the Week after he averaged 14.5 points and 10.0 boards in February wins over Pacific and UT Arlington.
He helped lead the 'Eaters to a 21-16 overall record in 2012-13 as the team tied the third-highest total for single-season victories in program history. UCI advanced to the Big West Tournament championship game and competed in the CollegeInsider.com Tournament, reaching the second round.
"I am very excited to be starting my professional career with Ostrava," said Folker in a Slan Sports Management release. "I am ready to go in and work hard every day to compete for a Czech League championship."
NH Ostrava advanced to the semifinals of the Czech Republic League and Czech Republic Cup in 2012-2013.
