UCI Falls to LMU, 12-9, at NorCal Tournament

PLEASANT HILL, Calif. --- In a game that was tied eight times, Loyola Marymount capitalized on late goals to defeat UC Irvine, 12-9, in the ninth-place game of the NorCal Tournament Sunday night at Diablo Valley College.
Senior Mitch Wise led the 'Eaters (10-2) with five goals and Jared Osborn added two.
Milutin Mitrovic and Vuk Cvetkovic tallied five goals each for the Lions.
The teams were tied 6-6 at halftime and were knotted for the final time at 8-8 on a goal by Wise with 4:34 left in the third quarter.
Seth Coldren scored 17 seconds later to give LMU the lead for good at 9-8 and Cvetkovic pushed the lead to 10-8 with 2:02 remaining in the third quarter.
Wise scored his last goal of the evening with 7:21 left in the fourth to pull UCI within 10-9 before the Lions' Cory McGee (2:12) and Mitrovic (1:23) closed out the scoring.
The 'Eaters open Mountain Pacific Sports Federation play Oct. 5 at USC at 1:00 p.m.
