
UC Irvine Takes 11th In The Season Opener

Minneapolis, Minn. -- In the first tournament of the season, UC Irvine finished 11th at the Minnesota Invitational at the Minikahda Club in Minneapolis, Minn.
UCI had a 54-hole total of 963 (317-332-314) to finish in 11th position. Kent State shot the lowest round of the tournament with a 294 on the final 18 holes to capture the team title with a score of 902 (306-302-294), one shot ahead of Illinois (903). Kent State's Jennifer Ha was the only player under par for the tournament, claiming medalist honors with a one-under 215 (76-71-68).
UCI sophomore Luciane Lee shot a team-best 74 Tuesday and ended with a three round total of 237 (80-83-74), good for 30th place. Junior Michelle Yang was tied for 37th with a score of 238 (79-82-77), while senior Sara Banke was tied for 42nd at 241 (80-79-82). Freshman Samantha Chan was tied for 54th with a score of 248 (79-88-81) and senior Ronnie Valerio was tied for 57th at 250 (79-88-83).
UCI returns to action on Sept. 30 at the Rose City Collegiate at the Langdon Farms Golf Course in Aurora, Ore.
