IRVINE, Calif. -- The UC Irvine women's golf team will visit five states over nine tournaments during the 2013-14 season.
"We have a great schedule this year and the team will be put to the test from the beginning," head coach Julie Brooks said. "The girls are motivated and ready to compete. We return six of seven players from last year and with the addition of the two freshmen I think our experience will take us far."
The Anteaters travel the U.S. during the Fall season beginning the year at the Minnesota Invitational at The Minikahda Club in Minneapolis, Minn. on Sept. 16-17. UCI then competes at the Rose City Collegiate on Sept. 30-Oct. 1 at the Langdon Farms Golf Course in Aurora, Ore.
UCI returns to two familiar tournaments when they participate in the Price's Give 'Em Five Intercollegiate at the New Mexico State Golf Course Oct. 7-9 and the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown at the Stallion Mountain Golf Club Oct. 27-29.
The spring schedule starts at the Peg Barnard Invitational held at the Stanford Golf Course Feb. 15-16.
The highlight of the season is the UC Irvine Invitational Presented by Kia Feb. 24-25 at the Santa Ana Country Club. UCI will partner with Kia for the second consecutive year in offering a sponsor's exemption to the Kia Classic to the medalist, making the event one of the premier tournaments in the country.
The Farms Invitational at the Farms Golf Club on Mar. 24-26 will be followed by The Gold Rush Apr. 7-8 at the Yorba Linda County Club to round out the regular season slate.
The Anteaters will travel to the San Luis Obispo Country Club on Apr. 13-15 for the Big West Championships before hopefully participating in NCAA action.
UCI returns all, but one player from last year's squad including senior Ronnie Valerio and sophomore Lucianne Lee. Valerio is a two-time All-Big West performer, while Lee was named a first-team All-Big West honoree and participated in the NCAA West Regional last season.
