UC Irvine Golfers Honored As All-Big West; Julie Brooks Named Co-Coach Of The Year

Irvine, Calif. – UC Irvine women's golfers Michelle Park, Luciane Lee and Ronnie Valerio were selected to All-Big West Conference teams; while head coach Julie Brooks garnered 2013 Big West Women's Golf Co-Coach of the Year.
Brooks, who shared the recognition with UC Davis' Anna Temple, collects her third career coach of the year accolade (2007, 2008). Brooks' team never finished lower than sixth this season, including three Top-3 finishes. The Anteaters placed second at the UC Irvine Invitational presented by Kia and third at the Big West Championships and Long Beach State Gold Rush.
Senior Michelle Park and freshman Luciane Lee were honored on the All-Big West first team. The duo will be participating in the NCAA West Regional held at the Stanford Golf Course next week as individuals.
Park, who was named to the second team the previous two years, has recorded four top 10 finishes this season and leads UCI with a 75.33 scoring average.
Lee, who was named the Big West Golfer of the Month for March, follows with a 76.05 average. Lee placed second at the Fresno State Lexus Classic and third at the Juli Inkster Invitational.
Valerio was selected to the honorable mention squad after earning Big West Freshman of the Year and All-Big West second team honors in 2011. The junior had three top-10 finishes this year, including a fifth place performance to lead UCI at the Big West Championships. Valerio owned a 76.86 scoring average this year.
