San Luis Obispo, Calif. – UC Irvine junior Ronnie Valerio recorded a team-best 74 on the second round and is tied for fourth place at the Big West Championships held at the San Luis Obispo Golf and Country Club.
Valerio moved into a tie for fourth place with a 36-hole total of 150 (76-74). Her 74 was tied for the second best score Monday. Valerio trails tournament leader Demi Runas from UC Davis by five shots (145) heading in to the final round on Tuesday.
As a team, the Anteaters are in third place with a two round total of 618 (311-307). UC Davis leads the tournament field with a total of 593 (289-304) followed by Long Beach State at 609 (297-312). Cal State Fullerton sits in fourth (632), while Cal Poly is fifth (633), UC Riverside sixth (636), Hawaii is seventh (638) and Cal State Northridge is eighth (642).
UCI senior Michelle Park is tied for seventh with a score of 152 (75-77), while freshman Luciane Lee (80-78) and junior Sara Banke (80-78) are tied for 19th at 158. Sophomore Brenna Carlson is tied for 32nd with a score of 163 (83-80).
The championship concludes with 18 holes tomorrow beginning at 9:00 a.m.
