UC Irvine Finishes 5th at The Farms Collegiate Invitational

 

RANCHO SANTA FE, Calif. --- The UC Irvine men's golf team finished fifth in The Farms Collegiate Invitational that concluded Tuesday at The Farms Golf Club in Rancho Santa Fe.

UCI had a three-round total of 905 in the 12-team tournament to earn its third consecutive top-five finish of the 2012-13 season.  Pacific won the title at 872, Saint Mary's was second at 875, Missouri third at 894 and San Diego fourth at 897.

Anteater junior Allan Jun shot a 73 in Tuesday's final round to finish sixth with a 2-over total of 218 for his first top-10 showing of the season and he was just three shots behind Missouri's Emilio Cuartero (71), who was medalist at 215.

Freshman Jacob Schulze shot a 77 in the final round and placed 25th at 229, senior Michael Yang (78) was 28th at 230, sophomore Pete Fernandez (78) finished 31st at 231 and junior Travis Russell (75) was 42nd at 236.

Senior Mickey Chan, playing as an individual, shot an even-par 72 and finished 25th at 229.

The 'Eaters compete in the Folino Invitational Sunday and Monday at Industry Hills Golf Club.
