UC Irvine will end its nine-game roadtrip, traveling to Sacramento State Saturday (Dec. 14) for a 2:00 p.m. game at The Nest.
The Anteaters are taking final exams Dec. 9-13.
Sac State is off to the best start to a season in the Div. I era of the program at 6-1. The Hornets are coming off a 103-99 victory over San Jose State last Saturday.
Sacramento State is on a four-game winning streak, suffering its lone loss of the season at Oregon State 102-80.
The Hornets are averaging 92.3 points and 16.1 steals per game.
The Anteaters lead Sacramento State 5-3 in the series all-time, winning the last three meetings.
The last time the two teams met, the Anteaters took home a 81-75 victory in Irvine on Dec. 11, 2011. UCI beat the Hornets, 54-53 on Dec. 3, 2008 in the last meeting in Sacramento.
The Anteaters finally return to Irvine next week, battling New Mexico State on Dec. 18 at 7:00 p.m. in the Bren Center.
UCI is 5-4 overall coming off of a second place finish at the Lady Griz Classic. The Anteaters beat Appalachian State, 85-77 then lost to host Montana, 71-48 in the championship game.
Senior forward Camille Buckley was named to the all-tournament team after recording 23 points and 18 rebounds over two games.
Five UC Irvine players scored in double-figures in the win over Appalachian State in the first game of the Lady Griz Classic. Senior guard Vanessa Aguilar came off the bench and poured in a career-high 20 points, going 7-8 from the field, including 5-6 from three-point territory. Senior forward Jazmyne White recorded a season-high 14 points in the victory.
The Anteaters scored 57 first half points against the Mountaineers which was a season-high.
The 85 points is the second most this year for UCI following an 86-72 win at Nevada on Nov. 17.
UCI shot a season-best 48.4 percent (30-62) from the floor and shot a blistering 62.5 percent in the first half (20-32).
The Anteaters went 7-14 from beyond the arc last Friday, draining a season-best seven three-pointers for the four time this season.
UCI had a season-high 22 assists and tied a season-high with 10 steals against the Mountaineers.
49 of UCI's 85 points came from the bench.
UCI's 48 points against Montana was a season-low. The Anteaters got to the line a season–low nine times, making a season-low six free throws.
Buckley leads the team in scoring (14.7) and rebounding (10.1). She is one of three Big West players to average a double-double. The senior forward has four double-doubles on the year.
