'EATERS OPEN AGAINST TIGERS
● Eighth-seeded UC Irvine opens play in the 2013 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championship Tournament Friday morning at 10:00 against top-seeded Pacific.
● The 'Eaters and Tigers have met once earlier this season with Pacific prevailing 16-8 in an MPSF game Nov. 16 in Stockton.
● UCI is coming off a 13-10 win over Pepperdine in Sunday's regular-season finale to clinch the final berth in the MPSF tourney. The 'Eaters had to win by at least three goals to advance and senior Bojan Hrlec's penalty shot with one second left secured the tournament berth.
● Hrlec, who had six goals in Sunday's victory, was named the MPSF/KAP7 Player of the Week.
STATS LEADERS
● Senior driver Mitch Wise, a two-time All-American, leads UCI with 71 goals this season. Wise, who has 233 goals in his Anteater career, ranks third in the MPSF with a scoring average of 2.84 goals per game this season. He scored a career-high eight goals in the Sept. 18 win at Chapman.
● Senior Bojan Hrlec, an honorable mention All-American last season, has 37 goals on the year with a high seven in a Sept. 15 win over Pomona-Pitzer. He has scored 100 goals for UCI in the past two seasons after transferring from West Valley College. Hrlec has scored 11 goals in the last three games.
● Freshman Kyle Trush is third on the team with 33 goals. He had a season-high four goals in last Saturday's 11-10 win over UC San Diego, scoring the game-winner with 17 seconds left.
● Sophomore Tyler Mancuso, a transfer from Iona College, has 21 goals this season, as does junior Jacob Mourer.
● Sophomore Jared Osborn has 21 goals this year, junior Alan Robertson 17, sophomore Larson Pfeil 15 junior Kyle Kittlitz 11 and sophomore Pablo Carballo 10 as the other double-digit goal scorers for the 'Eaters this season.
● Senior goalkeeper Alex Kazmier has 127 saves and ranks seventh in the MPSF with an average of 10.58 saves per game.
