IRVINE, Calif. --- UC Irvine senior driver Bojan Hrlec (Rijeka, Croatia) has been named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation/KAP7 Player of the Week following his performance in Sunday's win over Pepperdine.
Hrlec scored a game-high six goals, including four in the second half, as UCI overcame a 6-4 halftime deficit to top the Waves, 13-10.
Three of his goals came in the third quarter as the 'Eaters rallied from a 7-4 deficit early in that period.
His final goal of the day was a penalty shot with one second remaining in the game to give UCI the 13-10 victory. The 'Eaters needed to beat the Waves by at least three goals to qualify for this weekend's MPSF Championship Tournament in Stockton.
UCI opens action in the tourney Friday morning at 10:00 against top-seeded Pacific.
Hrlec has 37 goals this season and 100 in his UCI career after transferring from West Valley College. He earned honorable mention All-America honors last year.
