UC IRVINE HOSTS GLADIATORS SUNDAY NIGHT
● UC Irvine hosts Pacifica College in a non-conference game Sunday night at 7:00 in the Bren Events Center.
● This is the second meeting in the series between UCI and Pacifica. The Anteaters defeated the Gladiators, 116-47, last November in the Bren Center. Conor Clifford led UCI with 18 points and 11 rebounds while Chris McNealy and Alex Young scored 15 points each.
● Fourth-year head coach Russell Turner's UCI squad is coming off an 86-72 win over Washington in Seattle Thursday night.
● Junior forward Will Davis II scored 22 points, hitting 10 of 12 field goals, to lead the 'Eaters against the Huskies.
● 7-6 freshman center Mamadou Ndiaye set a UCI and Big West Conference single-game record with nine blocked shots in the victory over the Huskies. He broke the previous mark of eight set twice by teammate Will Davis II. Ndiaye also had 18 points and eight boards versus the Huskies.
● Freshman guard Luke Nelson added 11 points and six assists in the win over Washington as UCI improved to 2-0 all-time over the Huskies. The 'Eaters have also defeated two straight Pac-12 opponents, having beaten USC last December.
● UCI hosts the 2K Sports Classic benefiting Wounded Warrior Project Irvine Subregional Friday through Sunday. Joining the 'Eaters in the event are LIU Brooklyn, Boston University and Eastern Washington. Two games will be played each day.
● UCI's first game in the Classic is against LIU Brooklyn Friday night at 7:00. LIU Brooklyn, three-time defending Northeast Conference champion, is 1-1. The Blackbirds were edged 73-72 at No. 23 Indiana last Tuesday.
