UC Irvine begins its nine-game road trip at Pepperdine Thursday (Nov. 14) at 7:00 p.m. in Firestone Fieldhouse then heads to Nevada Sunday (Nov. 17) at 2:00 p.m. at the Lawlor Events Center.
The Waves lead the series record, 19-13 all-time. The Anteaters have lost 10 out of the last 11 games versus the Waves, but won the last meeting 81-75 at home on Dec. 1, 2010.
The Waves are 1-1, beating Seattle 84-73 on the road to open the year then losing 82-78 at UCLA on Monday.
Four Pepperdine players are averaging points in double-digits and are led by Bria Richardson with a 20.5 mark over the first two games.
UCI's roster features seven seniors while Pepperdine's squad does not feature a single senior.
The Waves are under the direction of first year head coach Ryan Weisenberg. Before going to Malibu, he coached the Manawatu Jets in the New Zealand National Basketball League as well as spent time on the staffs of the Los Angeles Lakers and Sparks.
Nevada opened the year with a 79-67 win at Utah State. The Wolf Pack will host Long Beach State Friday before entertaining the Anteaters.
The Anteaters own a 12-5 series record against the Wolf Pack.
The last two teams met last year with the Wolf Pack winning 72-49 at the Bren.
Nevada was a member of the Big West from 1992-2000.
Forward Camille Buckley nabbed the first Big West Player of the Week award. After leading UCI with 15 points and eight boards in a win over South Dakota. She was also named the Madness Big West Women's Basketball Player of the Week.
The Pepperdine contest is the first of nine straight games on the road. The Anteaters don't return to the Bren until Dec. 18 when the take on New Mexico State.
UCI will play 11 of its 14 non-conference games on the road.
UCI started the year at home for the first time since 2009 and defeated South Dakota 68-64, the first win in an opener since 2002.
Camille Buckley led the Anteaters with 15 points, eight rebounds and two steals in 27 minutes of action. Jennifer Tsurumoto added 11 points and Vanessa Aguliar had a career-high 10 points on 4-6 shooting which included a pair of three-pointers. Kelly Meggs recorded eight points, while Madison McKenney added seven points in her Anteater debut and Mokun Fajemisin had six points, four rebounds and four blocks.
The Anteaters shot 32.8 percent (21-64) from the floor and 71.4 percent (20-28) from the free throw line. UCI went 6-22 from three-point distance. Five different Anteaters hit a three-pointer.
UCI had seven blocks and 10 steals in the first game of the year.
The first and second round of the Big West Tournament will be held at Long Beach State on March 11-12. The semifinal and final games will be held at the Honda Center March 14-15.
