Irvine, Calif. -- UC Irvine forward Camille Buckley was named the first Big West Women's Basketball Player of the Week award for the 2013-14 season.

Buckley led the Anteaters with 15 points and a game-high eight rebounds in a season-opening victory against South Dakota. She also recorded two steals in 27 minutes. 

The senior drained two key free throws with 1:29 remaining to put the Anteaters up by six in an eventual 68-64 victory. It was UCI's first win in a season opener since 2002.

This is the first Big West honor for Buckley and the first for UCI player since Kassandra McCallister claimed the honor on Jan. 16, 2012. UC Irvine has earned the league's weekly accolade 36 times.

The Anteaters will travel to Pepperdine Thursday (Nov. 14) then on to Nevada for a contest on Sunday (Nov. 17).
