HEADERS

  • The Anteaters have allowed 30 shots on goal, lowest in the Big West and 10 fewer than the next school (40 - UC Santa Barbara).
  • UC Irvine is ranked 18th according to Soccer America and 25th according to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA).
  • UCI has trailed once at halftime this season (Oct. 6 at Sacramento State) resulting in a 2-1 victory.
  • The 'Eaters are unbeaten (6-0-1) when scoring a goal in the second half.

FREE KICKS

  • UCI's non-conference schedule featured the Big East, Big Ten, Pac 12, WCC, MAAC, and WAC conferences. The Big East, Pac 12, and MAAC were represented twice.
  • The Anteaters were 1-6 vs. ranked opponents in 2012. UCI is currently 2-0 against ranked schools in 2013.
  • This season marks the sixth time in the last seven years UCI as collected five or more non-conference wins.
  • UC Irvine's non-conference opponents have a collective record of 32-39-6.
  • The 'Eaters' RPI currently stands are 83rd in that nation and they are 2-0-1 against schools in the top-75.

CORNERS

  • The 'Eaters bring back 10 starters from the 2012 squad including preseason award-winners Cameron Iwasa and Marco Franco.
  • UCI has three players over the 1,000-minute mark, keeper Michael Breslin is the lone 'Eater to play all 1,030.
  • Enrique Cardenas converted two penalty kicks vs. No. 11 UCLA. UCI has converted six of its last seven PK tries dating back to 2009.
  • UCI men's soccer's win over Marist stretched its streak to ten season openers with a win and is unbeaten in 13 straight season openers (11-0-2).

IN THE BOOKS

  • Michael Breslin has seven career shutouts, good for eighth in program history. Breslin recorded his first career assist vs. No. 11 UCLA on Cameron Iwasa's goal.
  • Enrique Cardenas had a three-match point streak (3 G, 2 A, 8 Pts) vs. UCLA, Santa Clara, and CSUB. He and Miguel Ibarra are account for the last three streaks of this length dating back to 2011.
  • UCI's win over No. 11 UCLA was the 250th in the history of the program.
  • UCI has won three consecutive matches against ranked opponents: 3-1 over No. 11 UCLA, 1-0 over No. 16 Louisville, and 1-0 win over No. 21 CSUN to end the 2012 season.
  • No. 11 UCLA was the 12th top-20 opponent UCI has defeated in program history.

OPPOSING VIEWS

  • UCI is 8-11-1 in regular season conference matches at Anteater Stadium since 2009.
  • UCI has a 15-12-7 edge over Cal Poly in its history, 9-5-3 at home with a loss in the last meeting, 1-0, in 2011.
  • The Mustangs are 8-4 this season, 3-2 away from home. The only common opponent is UCLA which Cal Poly beat on the road, 3-0. CP is coming in off Big West matches against UCR (W, 5-1) and CSUF (L, 1-0).
  • Cal Poly leads the NCAA with 32 goals scored, four more than any other school.
  • Mackenzie Pridham paces the Mustangs with nine goals to lead the conference and three game-winners.
  • Ari Lassiter and Matt LaGrassa each account for five goals as well.
  • UCSB holds a 16-29-3 lead all-time vs. the Anteaters. UCI has eight wins each in home and away matches.
  • UCSB is currently 7-4, 2-1 away from home, but lost to common opponent UCLA, 1-0.
  • The Gauchos have not allowed a goal in its last three matches including victories over CSUF and UCR.
  • Achille Campion and Goffin Boyoko lead the team with four goals each. Ismaila Jome and Drew Murphy have five and four assists, respectively.
  • UCSB has committed 30 more fouls and has been issued six more yellow cards than any other Big West school in 2013.
  • Four of the last six matches between the two have gone to double overtime, three of them at Anteater Stadium, and UCI is 1-2-1 in those matches.

SOCCER AT THE NEXT LEVEL

  • Brad Evans has earned a spot on the U.S. National squad this year. He has made 11 total appearances including three World Cup qualifiers in 2013. He scored his first international goal in a WCQ against Jamaica, a game-winner in stoppage time.
  • Evans is also a member of the Seattle Sounders FC. He has played in 20 matches this season scoring three goals and assisting on five. Evans ranks in the top five in all major Sounders career categories.
  • Amani Walker and Andrew Fontein are teammates on the Tampa Bay Rowdies of the North American Soccer League. Walker has two goals, one game-winner, and two assists in nine matches. Fontein has 14 saves in three starts.
  • Fontein was a part of the 2012 NASL Championship squad that defeated Walker and Miguel Ibarra.
  • Ibarra is a member of the Minnesota United FC. In 16 matches, Ibarra has one goal, two assists, and played over 1,200 minutes.
