Practice is underway and the season begins in 24 days. Here are a few tidbits to get you thinking about the year ahead.

• UCI will travel to the Montana Tournament on Dec. 6-7. Missoula is ranked third all-time in toughest places to play in the country with a 484-69 record (87.52%), while the Grizzlies' home court, Dahlberg Arena, is the sixth toughest venue with a 475-63 (88.29%) mark.
• Assistant coaches Lauren Bowie (2002-06), Annie Mai (2004-08) and Miranda Forry (2004-08) all played for the Anteaters and were all on the same team for two seasons.
• Assistant coach Michelle Augustavo played for the University of San Diego from 2004-06. She holds the school record for points in a game (42) and is tied for the school record for most field goals made and attempted (15-26) and three-pointers made and attempted (10-19) against Clemson on Dec. 11, 2005. The Anteaters visit San Diego on Dec. 20.
• Talking about San Diego, Mokun Fajemisin and Jenny Dee both have brothers who play on the USD men's basketball team.
• UCI plays at Washington on December 30 where Kelly Meggs' dad, Lindsay, is the head baseball coach. Her brother Joe wrapped up his Huskie career in 2012, while brother Jack is a freshman on dad's 2013-14 squad.
• Augustavo ended her collegiate career at Washington where she was a two-time team captain and received PAC-10 All-Academic honorable mention honors. The assistant coach is a Seattle native.
• Meggs and Mokun Fajemisin both hail from Washington and join Brittany Glassow (Eugene, Ore.) as the only three players on the roster not from California.
• The last two years, UCI has been on the road over the Thanksgiving holiday, but this year the team will play locally at the Loyola Marymount Tournament November 29-30.
• The Anteaters are one of the most veteran teams in the Big West. The seven seniors on the roster combined for 170 career starts, 89 of which came in 2012-13.
• Jazmyne White, who was the Big West Freshman of the Year in 2010, will return to action this season as a senior.
• Camille Buckley and Methlyn Onogomuho are popular rappers. Buckley was the only conference player to average a double-double in Big West games (11.9 ppg and 11.5 rpg).
• Madison McKenney had a career-high 22 points against UCI when she was a member of the CSU Bakersfield team. The guard set the CSU Bakersfield Division I record for highest field goal percentage in a game (1.000, 8-8) and three-point field goal percentage in a game (1.000, 6-6) versus the Anteaters.
• Madison was named after the mermaid in the movie Splash.
• Jennifer Tsurumoto is a big Harry Potter fan.
• Lauren Spinazze has Canadian citizenship.
• Seniors Camille Buckley and Jazmyne White played together at Colony High School.
• Head coach Doug Oliver performed in the musical West Side Story in High School.
