'Eaters fall to Cal, 11-9, in UCI Invitational

IRVINE, Calif. --- Four UC Irvine players scored multiple goals, but the 'Eaters fell to California, 11-9, in the UCI Invitational Sunday morning at Anteater Aquatics Complex.
Mitch Wise scored three goals while Kyle Trush, Jacob Mourer and Alan Robertson added two each.
Back-to-back goals by Mourer, along with single goals from Trush and Wise, gave UCI a 6-3 lead midway through the second quarter.
Farrel South scored consecutive goals for Cal to cut the 'Eaters lead to 6-5 at halftime.
The Golden Bears scored three unanswered goals in the third period to go up 8-6 and led by at least two goals the remainder of the game.
UCI faces Long Beach State at 2:00 p.m. today in the seventh-place game at Anteater Aquatics Complex.
