Chloe Fata is Top UCI Runner in Season Opener

IRVINE, Calif. --- Senior Chloe Fata was UC Irvine's lead runner in the adidas/UCI Invitational Saturday at the Anteater Recreation Center Fields.
Fata placed 52nd of 168 runners with a time of 19:11.6 over 5,000 meters.
Marthie Ponty was 54th in 19:13.3, followed by Chelsea Schneider in 55th place (19:14.3) and Kaycee Holcomb in 59th (19:21.2).
Carlotta Pham finished 64th (19:26.4), Makenna McGrann 82nd (19:45.2) and Jewelz Andrews 87th (19:49.1) to complete UCI's top seven competitors.
Arkansas' Semehar Tesfaye won the race in 17:21.1 as the 11th-ranked Razorbacks claimed the top six spots and eight of the top 10 in winning the meet with 15 points.
UCI finished 10th with 252 points.
The Anteaters are idle from competition for three weeks, returning to action Sept. 29 with participants at the Stanford Invitational and Pomona-Pitzer Invitational.
