IRVINE, Calif. --- Junior driver Mitch Wise scored five goals for the third consecutive game and sixth-ranked UC Irvine held off No. 12 UC Davis, 14-12, in a non-conference game at Anteater Aquatics Complex Friday night.

Jacob Mourer and Bojan Hrlec added three goals apiece as the 'Eaters improved to 3-0 on the season.  Nick Pfeil scored a pair of goals and his younger brother, Larson Pfeil, added one score.

Wise scored three goals and Mourer two in the first quarter as UCI led 6-3.

Nick Pfeil scored back-to-back goals early in the second quarter (6:18 and 5:31) to help the 'Eaters take a 10-5 lead at halftime.

Wise scored two more times in the third quarter as UCI maintained its five-goal cushion at 14-9 entering the final period.

The Aggies (0-1) outscored the 'Eaters, 3-0, in the fourth quarter on goals by Trevor Allen, Bernie Rogers and Hank Dickey.

Allen led UC Davis with three goals while Colin Hicks, Chris Richardson and Anders MacCarthy added two each.

Alex Kazmier had six saves in goal for UCI.

The 'Eaters compete in the Inland Empire Classic at La Verne Saturday and Sunday.  UCI opens against Occidental Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at Las Flores Park.
