UC Irvine Finishes Fourth at SoCal Tournament

 

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. --- UC Irvine finished fourth in the SoCal Tournament after falling to UCLA, 14-8, in the third-place game Sunday at Dos Pueblos High School.

Junior Bojan Hrlec led the fifth-ranked 'Eaters (12-3) with four goals.

Second-ranked UCLA led 3-1 after one quarter.  The 'Eaters pulled to within 6-5 midway through the second quarter before the Bruins scored the final two of the period to lead 8-5 at the half.

UCLA outscored UCI 4-2 in the third quarter to build a 12-7 lead en route to the 14-8 victory.  Paul Reynolds led the Bruins with four goals.

The 'Eaters face Whittier and La Verne in the Convergence Tournament Saturday at Haldeman Pool in Claremont.
