Box Score CORVALLIS, Ore. --- UC Irvine lost 1-0 Sunday afternoon after the Oregon State Beavers (5-2-1) scored in double overtime in the 102nd minute.
Emery Welshman was the owner of the game-winning goal to cap off a four-goal weekend for the Beaver.
UCI (3-5-1) had it's best opportunity in the 98th minute when Enrique Cardenas' angle was cut off by the Beaver keeper enforce he could get a solid shot on target.
The Anteaters had some first half goalkeeper issues after Michael Breslin was fouled in the 5th minute and had to be relieved by freshman Elliot Farmer. Farmer wasn't necessarily tested; he didn't record any saves as the match remained scoreless into the half.
Breslin returned in the second half to make five saves for the Anteaters to send the match into overtime still scoreless. Two of his saves came in the final five minutes of regulation which also included three yellow cards between the clubs.
Cardenas was joined by Cameron Iwasa as Anteaters on the All-Tournament Team.
UCI opens up Big West Conference play Friday night 7:00 p.m. at Anteater Stadium against Sacramento State.
