STANFORD, Calif. --- Junior goalkeeper Alex Kazmier made a key stop late in the game and Winston Newland scored two of his team-high three goals in the fourth quarter as sixth-ranked UC Irvine held off No. 7 Pacific, 11-10, in the NorCal Tournament at Stanford's Avery Pool Sunday morning.

Newland's final goal of the game with 1:35 remaining gave the 'Eaters an 11-9 lead before Pacific's Alex Obert scored with 1:17 left to cut the UCI lead to 11-10.

Kazmier made a clutch save on a shot by the Tigers with just over 30 seconds remaining and UCI ran out the clock to improve to 9-1 on the season.  Kazmier had 10 saves in the victory.

Mitch Wise added a pair of goals for the 'Eaters, who led 6-1 at halftime.

A goal by Newland with 6:14 left in the third quarter boosted the lead to 7-1, but four goals by Pacific's Balasz Erdelyi in the third quarter and two more from him in the fourth sparked the Tigers' second-half rally.

With the win, UCI faces fifth-ranked UC Santa Barbara in the fifth-place game at 3:25 p.m. Sunday.
