STANFORD, Calif. ---- Sixth-ranked UC Irvine sustained its first loss of the season, falling to No. 3 California, 14-7, in the NorCal Tournament at Stanford's Belardi Pool Saturday night.
UCI, 8-1 on the season, will face seventh-ranked Pacific in a fifth-place bracket semifinal Sunday morning at 9:25 at Avery Pool.
Junior Bojan Hrlec led the 'Eaters against the Bears with three goals. Pablo Carballo, Jared Osborn, Nick Pfeil and Mitch Wise added one goal apiece.
Mitchell Hamilton paced Cal with three goals while five other players scored two each.
The Bears led 6-2 after one quarter and built an 11-4 halftime lead.
